Today a growing number of scholars — among them cosmologists, biologists, biochemists, physicists, and paleontologists, however, advocate "intelligent design theory," which holds that many features of biological organisms are too complex to have resulted from the Darwinian mechanisms of random genetic variation and natural selection. There is no existing naturalistic explanation sufficient to explain the molecular information found in the cell, the intricate complexties of all living things, or the universe. Many scientists are now proposing that intelligent design (ID) is a superior explanation for this information. They believe that the most natural and best rational explanation observed from the data is to some kind of design or purpose in biology.
